Review playground safety rules and have Cub Scouts demonstrate the proper use of playground equipment.

Before the meeting: 

  1. Gather copies of the Scouting America Annual Health and Medical Record on each participant (youth and adult)
  2. Review Annual Health and Medical Records for any restrictions that may impact participation
  3. Identify a local playground.  The playground can be outdoor or indoor. 
  4. Identify any posted playground rules. 

During the meeting: 

  1. Bring copies of the Scouting America Annual Health and Medical Record on each participant (youth and adult)
  2. Walk to a playground with the Cub Scouts. Identify three pieces of equipment that they will be using. 
  3. Ask each of them to think of a safety rule that they should practice when using each piece of equipment.   
  4. Let the Cub Scouts play.
