Cub Scouts will play a game and share answers about playground safety.

Before the meeting:

  1. Print out the trivia questions.

 

During the meeting:

  1. Explain the rules of the game.
  2. Read each question out loud, give time for Cub Scouts to think of their answer, then say loudly “Heads down, Thumbs Up”
  3. Cub Scouts will put their heads down, and thumbs up. During the first round the Leader will walk around and choose 3 Cub Scouts and once they have been chosen, the Leader will say loudly, “Heads Up, Thumbs Down”. Cub Scouts who were chosen to go to the front to share their answers.
  4. Reveal the correct answer and briefly explain why.
  5. In the following rounds, any Cub Scout who got the answer correct will get to choose the next players.
  6. Continue to play until all questions have been answered.
  7. Use the following questions:
    • What should you do before going down a slide?
    • Where should you sit on a swing?
    • What is the safest way to climb playground equipment?
    • What should you do if someone falls and gets hurt?
    • How many people should go down the slide at one time?
    • What should you do before running on the playground?
    • What kind of shoes are best for the playground?
    • If playground equipment is broken, what should you do?
    • Is it safe to walk in front of someone who is swinging? 
    • What should you keep to yourself on the playground?
    • Is it safe to slide down feet first?
    • What should you throw on the playground?
    • There is a playground that is away from where your guardian is and you really want to play on it, what do you do?
