  • Pencils; 1 per Cub Scout

Before the meeting:

  1. Print 1 race day promise per Cub Scout

 

During the meeting:

  1. Gather Cub Scouts and discuss with them what good sportsmanship looks like.
  2. Ask Cub Scouts to help brainstorm some fun cheers that would encourage their friends during the race.
  3. Ask Cub Scouts to think of ways they can be kind to their fellow Cub Scouts before, during, and after the race.
  4. Ask Cub Scouts to give examples of what they could say to demonstrate good sportsmanship during a competitive race.
  5. Tell Cub Scouts that we are making a Race Day Promise. They will fill out the Race Day Promise with their adult partner. They will need to answer the following questions
    1. We will cheer by: ______
    2. We will be kind by: ______
    3. We will say: ______

Cub Scouts can draw pictures instead of writing if needed.
