  • Printer
  • 1 Shield printed on 10 lb card stock paper per Cub Scout (additional resources)
  • 1 box of 16 crayons per 4 Cub Scouts
  • 1 pair of scissors

Before the meeting:

  1. Print shield template for each Cub Scout on card stock paper
  2. Cut out shields.
  3. Make an example for Cub Scouts to reference.

 

During the meeting:

  1. Give each Cub Scout a blank shield. 
  2. Ask them to draw a picture of a time they Did Their Best (school, home, sports, helping others, etc.). Example: a baseball game, finishing homework, helping siblings, trying something new.
  3. Add the Cub Scout motto “Do Your Best” across the top or bottom of the shield.
  4. Once finished, have Cub Scouts sit in a circle.
  5. Have Cub Scouts take turns holding up their shield and briefly sharing the story behind their picture.
