Following list is per Cub Scout:

  • 1 half hard-boiled egg
  • 2 raw green beans
  • 1 strawberry
  • 2 carrot sticks
  • 1 cherry tomato
  • 2 grapes
  • 2 blueberries
  • 2 saltine crackers
  • 2 cheese cubes
  • 1 date

Before the meeting:

  1. Confirm with parents/legal guardians that there are no food allergies and adjust foods as needed.
  2. Slice strawberries.
  3. Prepare hard-boiled eggs and slice them.

 

During the meeting:

  1. Give each Cub Scout a small plate.
  2. Instruct each Cub Scout to select foods from at least three different colors and at least two different food groups.
  3. Encourage each Cub Scout to try at least one food that is new to them.
  4. Ask each Cub Scout the following questions:
    “What colors did you choose?”
    “Which food groups are represented?”
    “Which food did you like best?”
  1. Explain that eating a variety of colors provides different vitamins and energy.

Cub Scouts will create a trail mix using three different foods that are naturally different in colors. These foods will consist of protein, vegetables, fruit, dairy, and a grain.
