Supply List

  • One Balloon, with spares in case one pops
    • Safety Note: Many balloons are latex.  If there are latex allergies among your unit, be sure to use non-latex balloons.

Objective

Cub Scouts and adult partners form two lines, facing each other and bat a balloon from one end to the other, with each person touching the balloon once.

Set-Up

Inflate one balloon for the group.

Identify a play area free of hazards where players can form two lines.

Directions

  1. Instruct Cub Scouts and their adult partners to form two lines of equal length, facing each other, about 3 feet apart. As the balloon comes to each player, they should bat it to the next player on the other side, so that the balloon travels from one end of the line to the other, with each person touching the balloon one time.
  2. Toss the balloon to the first player on the left side, who bats it to the first person on the right, then the 2nd person on the left side, etc., until the balloon reaches the far end.
  3. If the balloon touches the ground, pick it up, and continue with the last player to bat the balloon.
  4. When the balloon reaches the end, retrieve it and return to the start and begin again.
  5. After 5 minutes, end the game.

After the Game

  1. Collect and dispose of the balloon and any fragments from popped balloons.
