Before the meeting.
- Contact parents and legal guardians and gather enough tents so that every 2 or 3 Cub Scouts can share a tent.
- Set up meeting space with plenty of room to set up a tent.
- Check to make sure that the tents have all the pieces needed to set up.
During the meeting:
- Tell Cub Scouts they’re going to have a tent set up race.
- Divide Cub Scouts into groups of two or three.
- Give each group a tent and have them spread out so that they have plenty of room.
- When you say GO, Cub Scouts race to set up their tents.
- The first group that correctly sets their tent up is the winner.
- If the tents are different have them compete again with the other tent.
- After the race ask the Cub Scouts what they think made them successful in setting up the tent together and what challenges they faced and how they overcame them.
