Snapshot of Activity

This activity will set a calm and reflective tone as Cub Scouts and their families arrive for the Reverence Adventure. It encourages participants to think about and express what Duty to God in their daily life means to them in a creative way.

  • Printer
  • 1 large sheet of poster board
  • Pre-cut paper leaves (3 per Cub Scout) (see Additional Information)
  • Crayons
  • 2 rolls clear tape (for 8 Cub Scouts)

Before Meeting

  1. Gather materials.
  2. Print and cut out leaves.
  3. Draw large tree onto poster board.

During the Meeting

  1. As Cub Scouts and their families arrive, greet them and invite them to participate in the activity with the following prompt: “Draw or write what Duty to God means to you. Tell how you practice Duty to God in your daily life. Draw a symbol of your faith”.
  2. Add the Leaves to the Tree: After writing their reflections, participants attach their leaves to the Tree of Reverence using tape.
  3. Encourage Cub Scouts and their families to read the other leaves on the tree as more are added.
