  • Printer
  • 1 Glue stick
  • 1 Pair of scissors
  • 1 printed Code of Conduct choice sheet (found in Additional Resources)
  • Blue, yellow and red paper (2 sheets of each color)
  • 1 piece of poster board
  • Assorted markers
  • Assorted stickers

Before the meeting:

  1. Print rules on the appropriate colored paper and cut out all rules.
  2. Gather glue sticks, poster board and markers.

During the meeting:

  1. Explain that Cub Scouts will be making a code of conduct for their den. They will choose which rules they will want to follow during their den meetings. Allow them to choose 5-7 rules as a group.
  2. Place all the printed out rules onto a table and allow Cub Scouts to go through them and decide as a group which rules they want to attach to their poster board.
  3. Once 5-7 rules have been decided upon, Cub Scouts will work together to glue the rules onto the poster board then, decorate it using the markers and stickers. Each Cub Scout and Den Leader should write their name on the newly created code of conduct.
  4. Explain to Cub Scouts that by writing your name on the board after the rules have been glued on, that they agree to follow the rules.

After the meeting:

  1. Bring the code of conduct to each meeting and hang it up.
