Field Director
Position Overview
The Field Director leads the assigned team and gives positive direction to the staff to achieve team and council objectives. This team leader will be responsible for achieving strategic objectives for quality membership growth, fundraising growth, and community relations. This position will work with a diverse population within Monterey and San Benito Counties.
Responsibilities
- Meet regularly with their assigned USEs (District Executives) by riding with them in their districts weekly to check on progress related to in membership, finance, program, manpower, and unit service.
- Be the service area expert of the Scouting program and support USEs and units where needed in quality program delivery.
- Ensure assigned USE’s visit with each unit at least once per
- Help the USE observe the unit delivering the Scouting program at their meeting location and train them to identify high-quality and struggling units.
- Work with the USE and unit key-3 to conduct a unit health assessment at least twice a year.
- Work with each USE and train them to follow the council Friends of Scouting (FOS) plan and achieve their annual fundraising goal.
- Train USEs on how best to promote council programs, encourage units and families to attend activities, and advance youth.
- Help the USE identify potential sources of new youth members and ensure they are well-trained on the council membership plan to help their units grow and support graduating members in the next-level program.
- Help the USE identify and cultivate potential manpower at the unit and district levels.
- Train and help the USE strategize on how to ensure on-time charter renewal.
- Help the USE identify opportunities in the community for potential new units, strategically target possible chartered organizations, and conduct sales
- Provide leadership, training, and support by being available, engaged, and present with each assigned staff member.
- Understand each district in your service area by attending district meetings with your USE and getting to know district-level volunteers.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Qualifications
- Three years or more of experience as a successful Scouting America commissioned Professional.
- Seeking an individual who is professional in dress, well-spoken, and comfortable in social and networking settings.
- Strong interpersonal, written communication, and verbal presentation skills.
- Highly proficient in computer use.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (specifically Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PPT) and Google.
- Team player, positive attitude, resourceful, and willing to learn.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured.

- Fiscal management and budget development skills.
- Must possess a focus on continuous improvement and growth, both within the organization and with self.
Bonus Skills:
- Bi-lingual Spanish
- Proficiency with graphic design software and social media marketing preferred.

Salary Range of $80,000 to $90,000.
