Maintenance Mechanic
Position Overview
Philmont Scout Ranch is seeking a dedicated individual to serve as a motor pool Maintenance Mechanic. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work in a fast-pace environment that requires handling multiple tasks at any given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules. They will possess vehicle maintenance skills and have an enthusiastic, team-oriented attitude.
Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining a fleet of over 120 vehicles, which is a combination of light trucks, SUVs and sedans, plus numerous pieces of heavy equipment – all of which are a critical component of the ranch’s operation.
- Assist in tracking the use and availability of all motor pool assets to ensure all vehicles are ready for use.
- May serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) involving vehicle/mechanical related matters.
- Ensures that the vehicles and equipment are maintained in a safe and efficient manner and in compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, policies, and operating agreements.
- Be able to provide their own hand tools and be skilled in the use of specialized vehicle diagnostic equipment.
Education
Associate or equivalent technical degree in automotive mechanics or 2 years of experience of vehicle maintenance in a motor pool operation.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of industry trends and best practices with regards to vehicle maintenance
- Must be able to pass a BSA background check.
