Position Overview

The Las Vegas Area Council is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Program Director to lead the planning, execution, and oversight of council-wide activities and initiatives. This position plays a key role in delivering high-quality Scouting experiences that engage and inspire youth and volunteers. The Program Director provides leadership to the council’s program committees, including activities, advancement, camping, training, and the National Camp Accreditation Program (NCAP), while also supporting district-level events and initiatives.

This is an opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of young people by ensuring they have access to meaningful and engaging Scouting programs.

Responsibilities
  • Program Development & Execution: Plan, promote, and oversee all council-level events, ensuring they align with Scouting America’s mission and strategic goals.
  • Committee Leadership: Support and guide the activities, advancement, camping, training, and NCAP committees, providing leadership and coordination for their efforts.
  • District Support: Assist districts in implementing quality programs and activities that align with the council’s vision.
  • Camping & Outdoor Programs: Oversee council day camp operations, promote and expand summer camp opportunities for Scouts BSA troops with our partner Council camps, promote outdoor adventure opportunities, and ensure compliance with national standards.
  • Volunteer & Staff Collaboration: Work closely with volunteers, council staff, and community partners to enhance program delivery and participation.
  • Training & Advancement: Facilitate training programs for volunteers and youth to ensure quality leadership and program excellence.
Qualifications
  • Passion for youth development and the mission of Scouting America.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Ability to recruit, train, and motivate volunteers and staff.
  • Experience in event planning, outdoor program development, or youth programming preferred.
  • Knowledge of Scouting America policies, programs, and advancement is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Use of personal vehicle
Benefits
  • Competitive salary based on experience. $50,000 – $60,000

He is the founder of Caljet, one of the largest independent motor fuels terminals in the U.S. He has served the Arizona Petroleum Marketers Association, Teen Lifeline, and American Heart Association. A triathlete who has completed hundreds of races, Alexander has also mentored the women’s triathlon team at Arizona State University.

He has more than 40 years of experience in the oil, gas, and energy fields, including serving as a president, owner, and CEO. Adams has also received multiple service awards from the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers.
