To recognize those youth and adults who have completed the training required for their position.
Who Can Earn This Award?
This award is presented to Scout youth leaders, den chiefs, Venturing youth leadership, and all registered adult positions who complete the training requirements for their position.
What is required to be considered Trained?
Scout youth leaders must complete Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops (ILST).
Den chiefs (Scouts, Sea Scouts, or Venturers) must complete Den Chief Training.
Venturing youth leaders must completed the Crew Officers Orientation or Introduction to Leadership Skills for Crews (ILSC).

How To Get the Award
Either given by the council upon completion of training or available for purchase at the Scout Shop.
Supply Item Description & Uniform Placement
Three versions are available;
Trained strip with red letters (No. 18120) to be worn by Cub Scout leaders, youth and adult Venturing leaders, district and council leaders.
Trained strip with forest green letters (No. 18064) to be worn by youth and adult Scouts BSA leaders.
Sea Scout Trained leader strip (No. 639675) to be worn by Sea Scouts and Sea Scout leaders.
A special NYLT trained strip (Forest green, No. 622630) is available to be worn in place of the trained strip for those youth who have completed the NYLT course.
